TAMBURA
Adrian’s obsession with the wonky additive rhythms of east took him on bus trips to Bulgaria 15 years ago to learn tambura (8-string long-necked lute) where he studied with tambura virtuoso Vladimir Vladimirov.
Vladimir spent many generous hours teaching him the in’s and out’s of traditional melodies, ornamentation and improvisation. Since then Adrian has been busy writing Horos (dance tunes) and performing with UK–based Serbian singer and composer Jovana Backovic in ArHai. This project has also led to collaborations with Macedonian singer Tanja Tzarovska (troy, the passion of the christ). Performance highlights include The Barbican Concert Hall and RichMix London alongside UK and European festival appearances.
